Deep Purple Today: Where Are They Now?

Deep Purple remains active as of 2025, operating under what’s commonly called their “Mark IX” lineup. Ian Paice (drums), Ian Gillan (vocals), and Roger Glover (bass)—all original ‘Mark II’ members—are joined by longtime keyboardist Don Airey and guitarist Simon McBride.

Current Lineup & Touring Schedule

This evolved lineup continues to tour globally. In late 2024 and into 2025, Deep Purple headlined major venues including the OVO Hydro in Glasgow and concert halls across the UK, celebrating their highest-charting studio album in decades, Whoosh!, which reached #4 on the UK charts.

Ongoing Projects & Side Endeavors

Beyond touring, bass legend Roger Glover and frontman Ian Gillan remain engaged with music—both historic and current. Bassist Glenn Hughes (who was part of “Mark III”) is busy fronting Black Country Communion, releasing new material and touring in 2025.

What’s Next for Deep Purple?

Deep Purple shows no signs of slowing. With a successful global tour under way and a steady core of original members, the band continues to play their classic rock catalog—songs like “Smoke on the Water,” “Highway Star,” and “Child in Time”—to enthusiastic audiences. Although no new studio album has been announced since Whoosh!, fans anticipate more live performances through 2025 and potentially beyond.
